Representation Panel Member

At Asian Woman Festival, we're in the job of empowering women to take up space and be activists of their own future, as well as future generations. We do this through using our culture, conversation and art to smash stereotypes, patriarchy and stigmas Asian women are judged by.

As a panel member, you will be part of a small group that helps to ensure Asian Woman Festival events and activities are authentically representative of the entire South Asian community.

As a panel member you’ll be asked to:

•    Act as a sounding board for ideas and suggestions by the Asian Woman Festival Team

•    Share best practice and past experiences
•    Provide recommendations on key issues and themes pertinent to the South Asian community

Each panel member is invited to do the following:

•    To be a champion of Asian Woman Festival
•    To engage individuals and organisations who will add significant value to the achievement of Asian Woman Festival’s goals, whether as delivery partners, influencers or supporters.

This is an exciting time for Asian Woman Festival and we are seeking enthusiastic individuals to represent each of the following identities to join our new panel:

  • Nepalese

  • Bhutanese

  • Afghani

  • Sri Lankan

  • Bangladeshi

  • Pakistani

  • Applicants who are LGB, Trans or non-binary

Just in case you're wondering why 'Indian' isn't included on this list - we are currently well represented in this identity, but will still consider applications for this identity.

To be successful in this role you should have a genuine interest in the Asian Woman Festival collective and our values, and be willing to act in the best interests of our community and audience.  You will also be a good team player with excellent communications skills and a sense of service.

We are keen to hear from applicants who have:

  • experience in working in similar spaces

  • a good understanding of the reality in curating events

Frequency/Time commitment

  • At least four meetings per year held via Skype

  • Ad hoc meetings may be required

The benefits of being a panel member

  • Help shape the future of the Asian Woman Festival

  • Opportunity to meet new people and expand your network

Due to the large number of applications that we receive, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted and interviewed on a convenient date in Birmingham or London.
